Charter Hall has announced the lodgement of a Development Application with Brisbane City Council for a new office building which Regional Development Director QLD & WA, Bradley Norris says will transform the George Street end of the Queen Street Mall.
Plans have been released for a new $480 million Brisbane CBD office tower near the city's Queen Street Mall.
To be known as 60 Queen Street, Charter Hall has lodged a DA with Brisbane City Council for the development, which it says will set a "new benchmark for sub-tropical design".
According to the company, the tower will "enhance occupant experience" through maximising river views and daylight, while a generous sky park will offer both entertainment and outdoor collaboration spaces for staff in all weather conditions.

Subject to council approval, the proposed development will comprise 24,495 square metres NLA of office accommodation over 33 levels, 2,162 square metres of retail space, end of trip facilities and basement car parking for 95 cars.
Charter Hall’s Regional Development Director QLD & WA, Bradley Norris, said 60 Queen Street’s proximity to Queen St Mall, Queens Wharf and the new Brisbane Metro station was expected to be a drawcard for prospective tenants.

“The development's design will capture the two most important gateway streets to the retail heart of Brisbane as well as becoming a counterpoint to Queens Wharf.
"The highly prominent ground floor retail and a lower ground supermarket will create a welcoming entrance to the Queen Street Mall."
Designed by renowned Brisbane architects BlightRayner, the development aims to achieve all 31 criteria of Brisbane City Council’s ‘Building’s that Breathe’ guidelines which support Council’s vision for new buildings to embrace Brisbane’s subtropical climate by opening up to cooling breezes, providing lush landscaping, shade and comfort.
The project is also targeting a 6 Star Green Star rating and 5.5 star NABERS energy rating, a goal which includes shaping the design to allow sun hoods which direct both internal and external views and provide protection to the north-west solar impacts.
