High-end foodstuffs retailer The Gertrude Grocer has signed a three-year lease over the retail premises at 188-196 Gertrude Street Fitzroy in a deal negotiated by Rory White of Gray Johnson.
Foodstuffs retailer The Gertrude Grocer has signed a three-year lease over the retail premises at 188-196 Gertrude Street Fitzroy after taking an exploratory six months introductory occupancy from April this year.
The business, which initially occupied the space tenanted by another specialty foodstuffs retailer Aunt Maggies, has reportedly traded well through the pandemic period.
The Gertrude Grocer will now pay a starting annual rental of $85,000 net under their new three-year lease which has annual increases fixed at three per cent.

The lease negotiated by Gray Johnson associate director Rory White has two further options, one for a four year and the second for an additional three-year term.
Market reviews will apply at either option exercise.

Mr White said the deal reflected the increasing gentrification of the Fitzroy and adjoining city fringe residential area in particular.
“The Gertrude Grocer have quite quickly established a responsive customer base with both in-store and online sales," he said.
The street-level retail area leased is 274 square metres and has a double frontage with bifold glass doors and sixteen metres of street exposure.
The offices upstairs also house the electorate office of local member and State Planning Minister Richard Wynne and the Bauer Media group.
