Colliers International's Gold Coast office has been benefitting from the knowledge that comes with 17 years realty experience within the area after welcoming Steven King as Director in Charge last year.
The Gold Coast commercial market has undergone no shortage of change throughout the past 17 years, but Steven King working at Ray White was among the constants.
That was until December of last year when the 41-year-old was appointed Director in Charge of Colliers International's Gold Coast office.
Mr King told WILLIAMS MEDIA that leaving Ray White was one of "biggest decisions of his life".
"It was definitely hard to leave Ray White, because I had grown pretty close to the guys that manage the office there," he said.
"Andrew and Greg Bell had been really good to me, so it always going to be tough to leave that sort of environment.
"At the same time, joining Colliers was a great opportunity to take my career to the next level and lead a strong team."
In Colliers, Mr King joins an agency which has had some of the biggest Gold Coast transactions in recent memory, including the sale of Movie World for $100 million.
He said it was an exciting time to be part of the team.
"The Gold Coast market is pretty strong at the moment," he said.
"There are certain sectors that could be performing better, but in terms of secure leases, it's as strong as I've seen it in the 10 to 15 years."
Colliers International Queensland State Chief Executive Simon Beirne said Mr King brought strong leadership and significant commercial sales experience to the role.
“In line with Colliers acquiring GMP Project Management and growing the headcount to 40 staff, Steve is an excellent addition to lead the team and continue to take market share for Colliers International on the Gold Coast.
"As a multi-award-winning agent, Steven is highly respected as one of the Gold Coast’s best commercial agents with accolades like REIQ Commercial Agent of the Year.
"We know with his wealth of knowledge he will be a great leader within our business.”
