What inspired you to pursue a career in the property industry, and how did your journey start?
I was immersed in the world of construction and property from a young age, growing up in a household where these topics were always part of the conversation. Despite initially pursuing a career in financial services, I became increasingly drawn to the intricacies of building and development. Turning ideas into physical spaces fascinated me, and I realised this was where my true passion lay. To test the waters, I took on a small residential project, which only reinforced my desire to be in the property industry. Taking a leap of faith, I transitioned fully into this field and haven’t looked back since.
Can you share a significant challenge you faced in your career and how you overcame it?
One of the biggest challenges I faced in my career was developing unwavering self-belief. It may sound cliché, but I learned resilience was key when times get tough. I had to find my voice, trust my instincts, and have confidence in my decisions—many of which were high-stakes and deeply impactful. Through experience, I quickly realised that backing myself was not just important but essential for growth and success.
What is the best advice you have ever received, and how has it impacted your career?
The best advice I’ve ever received is that focus, and persistence are the keys to success. The more focused I am, the better the results, and persistence has been crucial in overcoming challenges. Staying committed through difficulties has strengthened my resilience and shaped me into a better leader.
What achievements are you most proud of in your career so far?
I believe my work should speak for itself, and I take great pride in the projects we build daily at Rossiter Constructions—it’s hard to single out just one. Beyond our projects, I’m particularly proud of the incredible team we’re building, which has been instrumental in our significant growth over the past four years.
Something particularly close to my heart is the Building and Construction Foundation, where I’m honoured to serve as a director. The foundation is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of skilled tradespeople and industry leaders while fostering a more inclusive and diverse construction industry. Contributing to its mission has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my career.
What advice would you give young women and men considering a career in property?
My advice to young women and men considering a career in property is to be curious, stay resilient, and never stop learning. This industry is dynamic and rewarding, but it also comes with challenges that require perseverance and confidence in your abilities. Surround yourself with mentors, ask questions, and take every opportunity to gain hands-on experience. Most importantly, back yourself—trust your instincts, make bold decisions, and don’t be afraid to take risks. Success in property comes from passion, persistence, and a willingness to keep pushing forward, even when the path isn’t always straightforward.
