Facey Property has had a busy few months, with a new name bringing change, hosting their annual networking breakfast, partnering with ICP for the National Property Guide and publishing their second Property Preview for 2019.
It’s been a busy few months for Facey Property, with the Victorian industrial and commercial property specialists refreshing their name, hosting their annual networking breakfast, partnering with Industrial Commercial Partners (ICP) for the National Property Guide and publishing their second Property Preview for 2019.
May brought a change of pace for the Victorian-based property specialists, with an updated name: Facey Property. The team has since been full steam ahead, holding its annual networking event, the South East Business Breakfast which involved hosting clients for a morning of networking, lively market discussion and a fantastic breakfast by the Healthlink Crew at Bunjil Place.
With the Federal election present in the minds of the audience, keynote speakers Nerida Conisbee, Chief Economist at REA Group, and Julian Cheng, a tax consulting Partner at Pitcher Partners, addressed the impacts that either a Labor or Liberal government’s election would have on the commercial property market. Conisbee focused on how world events in the US, Asia and the UK, along with the election, could have variable impacts on property. She emphasised that consumer confidence and the fear of over-paying are key factors limiting price growth, despite land values reaching record highs and rental growth within the industrial real estate sector.
Cheng spoke of the tax changes proposed by each of the leading parties, warning against Labor’s proposed removal of negative gearing and reduction of the discount on capital gains. He noted the potentially negative impact these changes could have on property investment, predicting this would likely cause further softening in the market.
Facey Property was delighted to host such prominent speakers in what was, all in all, a great success.
