The opening of the Old Mates Place rooftop bar on Sydney's Clarence Street has breathed new life into a former office building.
Sydney's Clarence Street is helping to secure the future of the city's rooftop bar scene, with a new raised offering adding to an already varied line up of small bars.
The top floor and adjoining rooftop of a six-level office building at 199 Clarence Street is the latest site to undergo transformation, forming part of the Old Mates Place bar.
The tenancy area at 4/199 Clarence Street was about 88 square metres and came with an internal staircase to the rooftop above.

It was leased by Ray White Commercial South Sydney’s John Skufris on behalf of a private owner.
Mr Skufris said the Old Mates Place team already secured a five-year lease of level 4, which was previously leased to an IT firm, and started trading after renovations.
“The rooftop has been completed with a timber decking and an outdoor bar area with views to Centrepoint Tower,” he said.

The venue is one of six small bars accessible from the strip separating Market Street and King Street, which also houses the Baxter Inn, The Duke of Clarence, Spawn Point Small Bar, the Lobo Plantation and The Barbershop.
Mr Skufris said the area was a natural meeting point for the city's office workers.
"It's located between the workplace and transport out of the city," he said.
"Workers have a place where they can meet friends in the time from when they finish work to when they catch a train or an Uber home."
