A sporting connection and 34 years of real estate experience are the foundation of the newly formed agency, Quinn Reynolds Property.
Quinn Reynolds Property may have only been trading since the beginning of this year, but its foundations can be traced back to the Essendon Football club at the turn of the 20th century, and more recently a conjunctional property appointment in Collingwood during 2008.
Back in 1897, the Essendon Football club entered the VFL and Marcus Quinn’s great-great-uncle, George Stuckey, was named the First VFL Captain of the Essendon Football club.
That team went on to win the premiership that year and George captained the club through to 1900. Not long after his 132 game career with the Bombers came the much-heralded arrival of Lincoln's grandfather, Dick Reynolds, also a premiership captain.
Dick Reynolds became one of the greatest players the VFL/AFL has seen, winning three Brownlow medals in 320 games and playing in a total of 4 premierships.
It was in Collingwood in 2008 that Marcus Quinn and Linc Reynolds first met, having both been assigned as conjunctional agents to a property, where they later put the historic puzzle together.
They would eventually join forces at JLL in 2015, where they headed the Metropolitan sales team in the firm's South East Melbourne office.
In December, they took their partnership to the next level by starting their own commercial real estate agency, Quinn Reynolds Property, bringing together 34 years of Melbourne real estate experience, with a passion for sport and success.
Mr Reynolds said branching out from the corporate world had been a matter of when, not if.
"I think we always knew that one day we were going to have a go at it," he said.
"With the market softening, we found that clients were less worried about the brand that was promoting their property and more concerned about the actual personnel handling the day to day process, without all the distractions - which we considered to be a real opportunity.”
"Rather than following a particular asset class, we are following our clients and their needs."
In order to differentiate themselves from the traditional agency model, the pair have pledged to be active on each campaign themselves, rather than following the trend of delegating the appointment to inexperienced staff.
The services of the business include sales and leasing across office, industrial, retail, medical/childcare and development sites and also acting as advocates when clients require an experienced hand.
Mr Quinn said they had so far been kept busy by a broad range of clients.
"We've been getting a lot of calls from all types of property people wanting to catch up and discuss alternative ways to add value and generate positive solutions for their property.
"A lot of opportunities have come across our desk in Cremorne this year with our clients attracted to our nimble and hands-on approach.
"We've been overwhelmed by the support we have received since starting the business.
"People appreciate honesty and hard work - the first three weeks have been really exciting and we’re embracing the challenge and enjoying meeting with really good, like minded people.”
