Business broker Farzin Hesari's rapid rise up the ranks at LINK has not gone unnoticed, with the Victorian Managing Director nominated for Business Broker of the Year at the REIA Awards for Excellence this month.
It's been a big six months for Farzin Hesari.
Not only did the business broker make a move from his home state of Tasmania to be the Managing Director of LINK Business Brokers' Victorian Office, but the change in setting has also come with an influx of new staff, with 11 new brokers beginning their employment under his management in the past three weeks.
Such are the current demands of his position that he remains unsure as to whether he will be able to attend the REIA Awards for Excellence in Perth this month, where he is nominated for Business Broker of the Year.
"There's a lot going on at the moment, which is why I'm worried I'm not going to be able to make it to Perth for the awards," he said.
"Might be in a bit of trouble there."
It was Mr Hesari's work in his previous role as Managing Director of LINK's Hobart office which led to the 2018 Real Estate Institute of Tasmania 2018 award and subsequent REIA nomination.
Having been a broker for just over three years, he admitted the recognition was a little surprising but said it had been "an exciting journey" so far.
"It's not something that I was expecting, but it's great to be acknowledged," he said.
"When I found out, I was relieved, excited and nervous all at the same time."
Mr Hesari's relationship with business brokerage has not always been smooth.
A former business development manager, he was involved in the sale of a company as a seller, an experience which turned out to be the catalyst for his career switch.
"The business broker we had was unable to tell us the value of the business and was instead asking me what I wanted to sell the business for," he said.
"It was very frustrating and led me to leap to the other side."
Mr Hesari said his aim now was to use his position to further expand LINK's Melbourne presence.
"We are at 37 staff now, but I would like us to get to 50 by this time next year," he said.
"We've got an amazing chairman in Adrian McFedries, whose passion and vision for the business has allowed us to be where we are."
