A selection of Toowoomba's CBD retailers is leading calls for an activation program within the city.
The Toowoomba City Heart Group has stepped up its efforts for an activation program within the city, engaging groups with an interest in revitalizing the CBD.
Comprising passionate CBD retailers and other invested parties, the group wants regular events in the city to attract more people to the CBD.
For their latest push, the group has been conducting conversations with the Chamber of Commerce, UDIA and QIC.
Group member Mark Wynhoven said while the groups were not the only ones with a vested interest in the program, they were considered to be the most resourceful in getting the CBD back on track.
"The City Heart group have engaged conversation with the 3 major groups that have the most interest in the revitalization of the CBD," he said.
"The CBD needs to be the hub of activity for our city with alternate events attracting people back into the CBD heart."
"If events are able to be conducted regularly within the CBD, we strongly believe people will begin to follow these events creating this continuing hive of activity and give the CBD its heart beat."
The group has already identified the implementation of the Toowoomba Regional Councils CBD masterplan or action from the affiliated groups as potential pathways to the activation program.
According to Mr Wynhoven, the two most typical conversations in regards to a future program are around CBD parking and the Margaret Street Laneway Project.
