After more than four decades of operations in Camberwell, the Real Estate Institute of Victoria (REIV) is moving its headquarters to Abbotsford with the purchase of 617 Victoria Street.
The 1,658 square metre commercial property is situated 200 metres city-side of Victoria Gardens Shopping Centre and features a modern multi-level office space with 52 carparks.
The new building is three kilometres from the CBD, and close to public transport.
Settlement for the property is scheduled for late June 2024, after which a contemporary interior fit-out will be commissioned, providing REIV employees, members and stakeholders a new and inspiring corporate home.
Jacob Caine, REIV President said the purchase of the Abbotsford property presents the perfect opportunity for REIV’s stakeholders.
“Relocating our corporate office will signify a new and exciting chapter for the REIV and importantly enable myriad benefits for our employees and members, Mr Caine said.
The new premises will create a more engaging environment for training and development and offer a tremendous space to run events and welcome visitors. We will also ensure REIV’s new home is equipped with cutting-edge technology so we can improve our communication and engagement with all our stakeholders.”
Megan Mander, Interim CEO of the REIV said the move solidifies the direction of the Institute and also makes it more accessible to regional members.
“Being located close to the CBD is important for the REIV, as it allows members from all parts of the state to access our headquarters with greater ease,” Ms Mander said.
Joseph Walton, Director of Gorman Allard Shelton and selling agent said the purchase presented a fantastic opportunity for the REIV to secure a prominent piece of real estate.
“The property at 617 Victoria Street offers a once-in-a-generation opening for the REIV. Sitting within a highly popular precinct of Melbourne’s Inner North, this property offers great connectivity to the CBD and inner suburbs,” Mr Walton said.
Peter Bremner, Director of Gorman Allard Shelton and co-selling agent added, “617 Victoria Street is a low maintenance office building that will service the needs of the REIV and its members \for many years to come. The provision of 52 basement car spaces is a uniquely high ratio of parking for the Melbourne city fringe.”
The REIV’s move to a new headquarters follows the sale of its 335 Camberwell Road headquarters in December 2023.
