Set to be constructed in four stages, the development will house seven warehouse buildings with loading docks, 633 car parking spaces, administration offices, internal roads and on-site landscaping.
Logistics specialist LOGOS has begun construction of a $128 million warehousing and distribution facility at Marsden Park, in Sydney's West.
Minister for Planning and Housing, Anthony Roberts, and Member for Riverstone, Kevin Conolly, attended a sod-turning ceremony on the 21.5-hectare site where LOGOS is building the warehousing and distribution facility within the Marsden Park Industrial Precinct.
LOGOS Head of Australia and New Zealand, Darren Searle, said master plan approval for the Marsden Park Logistics Estate provided a pathway for the development of 107,500 square metres of on-site logistics facilities.
The development will have seven warehouse buildings constructed in four stages with loading docks, 633 car parking spaces, administration offices, internal roads and on-site landscaping.
LOGOS has secured two pre-commitments for Stage One of the facility, with eStore, Australia’s largest third-party logistics provider and Valleyfresh, the global produce distributors and packers, committing to five and 10 year leases respectively.
“Given the estate’s direct access to key motorway networks and excellent amenity from neighbouring retail hubs, we have secured a pre-commitment with Valleyfresh Australia and eStore Logistics to develop a 6,224sqm and 12,515sqm purpose-built facility for them within Stage One,” said Mr Searle.
Mr Roberts said the development was another clear signal of Western Sydney’s strong reputation as a major economic and industrial powerhouse.
“Marsden Park is continuing to evolve, attracting new businesses like LOGOS Property Holdings alongside other major companies such as Costco, IKEA and Lindt which are already operating in the area,” Mr Roberts said.
“The value of industrial building approved in Greater Sydney was over $3.75 billion dollars in 2017, an increase of $1.8 billion from the previous year.
“Most industrial building activity in 2017 occurred in Western Sydney, including in Marsden Park, where employment lands contribute over 220,000 jobs and generate about $125 billion of output for Western Sydney.
Valleyfresh Australia General Manager Simon Powell said the Marsden Park development would allow Valleyfresh to better service the growing needs of its domestic retail customers. “LOGOS’ Marsden Park Logistics Hub provides an ideal geographical distribution location to deliver quality goods in a timely manner to our major fresh produce partners. The area provides excellent transport connectivity via the major arterial roads of the M4, M7/M2 direct to airport access,” said Mr Powell.
LOGOS is in discussions with a number of potential logistics occupiers for the remaining 95,000sqm of lettable floor space available at the estate.
