A new arts and music pop-up concept is breathing new life into The Metro shopping centre at Adelaide’s Hyde Park.
Live music and art have been added to retail experience at The Metro Shopping Centre in Adelaide's Hyde Park, bringing new tenants to the precinct.
The Hiive is a privately funded art- and music-based collective allowing budding and experienced artists and musicians to showcase their work, network and grow their visions.
Savills Australia’s Natasha Bertram has been appointed to market various retail tenancies in the neighbourhood shopping centre and said she had fielded significant interest from prospective tenants since The Hiive was established for its short-term activation.
“Giving people the opportunity to exhibit their music and art to a broader public through the shopping centre, The Hiive highlights the character of The Metro’s ownership while supporting the local community,” she said.
Designed to increase the amount of time shoppers spend at the centre, the pop-up experience includes static and live music performance, a “cinema” area for local filmmakers and videographers, and a showcase of local people’s culinary skills.
Ms Bertram said the rental rates for tenancies at The Metro were based on $600 per sqm.
“We currently have between 130sqm and 265sqm tenancies available that would suit destinational operators, including food, footwear, allied health, cosmetics and other service businesses,” she said.
Ms Bertram added that although the foot traffic at The Metro was not particularly strong, “the sales figures for the tenants are extremely high”.
“The sales in the centre are up on average 14 per cent across the board,” she said.
