Independent commercial property agency CVA bid farewell to an elder statesman of its leadership group at the end of last year as Northern Region Director Anthony Carbone departs from his role.
The 25th anniversary of CVA Property Consultants last year coincided with the end of an era as Northern Region Director Anthony Carbone departed from his role.
The 55-year-old already had almost ten years of property experience behind him when he joined CEO Charles Cini and Managing Director Ian Angelico in their new venture at the beginning of 1995.
The trio has since managed to establish CVA as one of the largest independent agencies in the state, incorporating a diverse range of commercial property services.
Much of the agency’s history has been intertwined with the career of Mr Carbone, whose extensive industry experience has been integral to the growth of the business.
The departing director said the decision to move on had come organically.
“It just feels right,” he said.
“I just want to get away from the day to day agency side of things and try something a little bit different.
“When you get to the stage I am at, there is a bit of a numbers game that plays in your head where you wonder what the next five or ten years are going to look like.
“I’m looking forward to spending more time with my family.”
CVA may be celebrating its 25 birthday this year, but Mr Carbone’s relationship with the company’s founders predates its inception.
Not only did he work with Mr Cini and Mr Angelico at Collings real estate prior to the start of CVA, but he has also enjoyed a strong relationship with his peers outside of work, dating back to when they were first starting out in the industry.

Mr Carbone said the bond he shares with the pair had shaped many of his lasting memories from his time in commercial real estate.
“I’m definitely going to miss the people and what we have actually built,” he said.
“We have a rare business model in the sense we have known each other since we were 19 and 20.
“There have been a number of changes in the industry but we’ve followed through with what we’ve set out to achieve.
“There was a very clear autonomy at the start, which has remained even as the business became more structured.”
The contribution of Mr Carbone to CVA and commercial real estate as a whole is not lost on his colleagues, who have shared many of his highs and lows.
Mr Cini said his friend and co-worker was bowing out “on a high”.
“He’s had a great year,” he said.
“The journey has come along very quickly for us all and I almost feel as though I’m back at the start of it.
“You get those moments when it gets too much and you want to move on, but everyone has their own way of dealing with it.”
Mr Angelico was similarly philosophical in detailing what the road ahead looked like without Mr Carbone.
“I think the reason why we are still going strong is we all have our distinct attributes and place in the market,” he said.
“In saying that, change has traditionally been good for our business and we always respond well when challenged.
“We’ve done some reorganising and stepped up some younger guys, which has been really positive.”
Mr Carbone will stay on at CVA in a consultant capacity.
