Knight Frank has appointed Michael Kwok as Partner, Head of Capital and Strategic Advisory in ANZ, strengthening the firm’s offering in the sector.
Michael has more than 25 years’ experience in real estate investment and asset management.
He moves to Knight Frank following five and a half years at the boutique Archerfield Property Group, where he was in the role of Executive Director. Prior to that, Michael held roles at Dexus, Valad Property Group and CFS GAM.
Michael’s specific areas of expertise include the origination of investment and development opportunities to meet the investment criteria of institutional capital partners and private investors, capital structuring, project and asset due diligence, design and construction, leasing and asset management.
He has worked across a range of sectors including commercial office, industrial, healthcare and mixed-use precincts.
Michael has been involved in over $10 billion of capital transactions and developments and played an integral role in the establishment and management of more than $2.5 billion of wholesale investor property partnerships.
In his most recent role, he has delivered successful assignments in partnership with institutional groups such as Goldman Sachs, Dexus, and Aware Real Estate, as well as other corporate and Government organisations, investment managers, private investors and developers.
Michael will be based in Knight Frank’s Sydney office and will work very closely with Neil Murray, Partner National Head of Occupier Strategy & Solutions, and will report directly to James Patterson, Knight Frank’s Chief Executive Officer in Australia.
Mr Patterson said Michael’s appointment will strengthen Knight Frank’s offering in the Capital and Strategic Advisory space.
“We are looking forward to providing our clients with a greater offering in this growing sector,” he said.
“Having an enhanced offering in Capital and Strategic Advisory will assist us in providing the best possible service in guiding clients through all stages of their transactions, including their funding requirements.
“Michael is a great fit for our Capital and Strategic Advisory offering and is well equipped to deliver new initiatives, with a strong background in this space across both institutional and private capital.
“His experience has given him the ability to understand the needs of capital and match it with opportunities, which he will do by working across the various sectors of our business, both nationally and globally, working with our teams in Asia and the UK.
“Michael’s vast institutional experience and global investor network will also assist Knight Frank’s Capital Markets service offering.”
Mr Kwok said he was attracted to Knight Frank largely due the broad network of the business and the opportunity to contribute to its growth.
“I’m excited to be growing Knight Frank’s Capital and Strategic Advisory offering, which is an evolving space in commercial property globally,” he said.
“I’m also looking forward to leveraging Knight Frank’s many partnerships including McGrath in Australia and Bayleys in New Zealand, as well as Cresa and Berkadia in the US and the Knight Frank Private Office in the UK.”
Michael’s appointment follows an expansion of Knight Frank’s Capital Advisory presence across Asia Pacific last year.
