Premium hospitality-led flex space provider, THE GREAT ROOM by Industrious, is excited to announce its expansion into the Australian market. The Great Room is set to open its doors in the heart of Sydney’s CBD at Level 29, 85 Castlereagh Street, marking its first foray into the country in partnership with Australia & New Zealand-based asset manager 151 Property.

Award-winning global multidisciplinary design firm Hassell was appointed to provide luxury interiors that incorporate a uniquely Sydney hospitality focussed offering while providing the same high standard of comfort, aesthetics, and performance synonymous with The Great Room brand. This follows Hassell’s design of multiple successful projects with The Great Room in Singapore and Hong Kong.
The expansion by Industrious into Australia aligns with the country’s growing flexible workspace trend as demand increases from businesses of all sizes seeking flexibility and collaboration opportunities.
Australia’s flexible workspace has seen explosive growth, particularly in major cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, with Sydney having the highest number of these workspaces in the country in 2022. According to CBRE’s 2023 Asia Pacific Office Occupier Sentiment Survey (June 2023), at least 40% of large enterprise occupiers use flex space to enter new markets, solve for uncertain demand or reduce capital expenditures.
The Great Room by Industrious in Sydney will offer a range of flexible membership plans to cater to diverse business needs. Founded in Singapore in 2016, The Great Room has since grown to 10 prime locations in key cities across Asia, including Singapore, Bangkok, and Hong Kong. US-based flexible workspace provider Industrious acquired The Great Room in 2022. Global real estate consultancy CBRE holds a 40% stake in Industrious, allowing The Great Room to tap into the Fortune 500 company’s network.
