Kingborough Council has approved Tipalea Partners’ Development Application for its new Spring Farm Village project in Kingston.
Kingborough Council has approved Tipalea Partners’ Development Application for its new Spring Farm Village project in Kingston, bringing exciting new retail to the community. The $45 million next-generation retail hub is set to enhance everyday convenience shopping within Kingston while boosting local employment within the growing region, creating more than 1,100 employment opportunities.
Testimony to the pent-up demand for retail in Kingston, Spring Farm Village is already 70% leased. It will be anchored by the latest generation Coles Supermarket which is set to be the largest in Kingborough. Chemist Warehouse will also be opening its first superstore in the region and will be joined by a range of other specialty retailers including food and beverage outlets and beauty services.
According to Tipalea, the community should be shopping in the new centre in early 2026.
Located opposite Bunnings on the Channel Highway in Kingston, Spring Farm Village will deliver over 7,500 square metres of retail space to this burgeoning residential hotspot. One of Hobart’s fastest growing regions, Kingston’s population is predicted to increase by 7,000 people in the next 10 years.
The state-of-the-art new retail centre has been designed by i2C Architects to serve the daily needs of the growing residential population from Huntingfield through to Margate and Snug, providing residents with greater competition, choice, and convenience. It is also set to be the most technologically-advanced and environmentally sustainable retail centre south of Hobart.
“Tipalea has a reputation for delivering premium retail centres that transform regions and unlock both greater amenity and competitive pricing for local communities. Spring Farm Village is set to redefine everyday convenience in Kingston, and we are eager to appoint a builder and get construction underway,” said Scott Spanton, CEO of Tipalea Partners.
As well as Coles and Chemist Warehouse, other retailers secured so far include a Bakery, Studio 7 Hair, and Lefa Nails & Beauty. All leases were brokered by Ashleigh Wearne and Lewis Torkington at ATD Retail and Tipalea’s own Graeme Wakefield.
Spring Farm Village is set to become the new epicentre of the region, integrating cutting-edge sustainability features and innovative new technologies. These include a full solar array, EV charging stations, weather station, free wi-fi, wireless charging stations, cloud-based CCTV throughout, car counters, duress intercoms, and a building information dashboard.
With unrivalled connectivity and accessibility, Spring Farm Village will include over 350 easily-accessible car parks, including dedicated bays for disability parking, mums & bubs, and seniors. Taxis and Uber food delivery bays along with EV charging stations will also be provided.
Tipalea Partners has been investing and creating jobs in Tasmania for over 15 years.
Spring Farm Village marks the developer’s sixth development in Tasmania, and its second retail centre in the State – with its highly successful Glebe Hill Village in Howrah recently listed for sale with JLL. Tipalea’s plans for an 8,000 square metre retail centre in Devonport were recently temporarily stalled, pending rezoning and an appeal to the Tasmanian Planning Commission.
Tipalea Partners has successfully developed neighbourhood retail centres across Australia in locations such as Mackay in Queensland, Pimpama on the Gold Coast, Muswellbrook in the NSW Hunter Valley as well as Launceston and Hobart in Tasmania.
