Ultra-luxury boutique at 317 Murray Street Perth leased to Omega, negotiated by RWC WA agent Luke Pavlos, alongside Lease Equity’s Jim Tsagalis.
The opening of Omega’s ultra-luxury boutique at 317 Murray Street this week is not just another addition to Perth’s high-end retail scene, it marks the transformation of the historic precinct into what many are already dubbing Perth’s “Park Avenue.”
Over the last few years it has become home to most tier-one, international luxury brands with Omega and Gucci now open and the much-anticipated Christian Dior superstore soon to follow. The strip already features Chanel, Tiffany, Louis Vuitton and Cartier.
RWC WA agent Luke Pavlos, alongside Lease Equity’s Jim Tsagalis, facilitated the lease to Omega.
Mr Pavlos said the glamorous transformation of the street level had flow on benefits for several building owners in the area who were now upgrading additional first-floor and basement spaces for tenants wanting to share in the glow of the strip.
He said the new Omega boutique opened within one of Perth’s architectural treasures - an exquisite example of Federation Free Renaissance style, dating back to the early 20th century.
“Omega’s arrival has seen a painstaking restoration of the building that blends heritage and modernity in a way that few projects achieve,” Mr Pavlos said.
“This has not only been good for Omega, but with recently refurbished upstairs and basement levels and further ground floor opportunities, it also provides a cost-effective opportunity for others to access the luxury strip.
“We are seeing similar upgrades and opportunities arise in similar buildings.”
To ensure a sensitive integration for 317 Murray Street, Omega enlisted the expertise of Swiss architects alongside Melbourne’s Brooking Harper and renowned WA architect Joe Chindarsi.
The building’s pressed tin ceilings, decorative columns and window frames—all original—were preserved and highlighted to create an ambiance that is both timeless and contemporary.
One of the boutique’s most arresting features is a three-metre-high gold statue of an Apollo 11 astronaut, visible from the street. This gleaming tribute speaks to Omega’s legacy of precision and durability in space exploration, with the brand’s Speedmaster Professional worn by astronauts during the 1969 Apollo 11 mission.
Mr Pavlos said the arrival of Omega’s boutique was a part of Murray Street’s rapid evolution, which unlike luxury shopping hubs that emerged in new complexes, was rooted in heritage buildings that would continue to enliven the city and create a unique blend of historical charm and modern opulence.
Mr Tsagalis said: “Omega is one of the world’s leading watch brands and indicates the rise in prominence of watches as a luxury item. They join watch brands Tag Heuer, Longines and Swatch as new retailers to the Perth CBD.
“With the imminent arrival of Edith Cowan University and several other new office and student accommodation buildings in the area, the boutique, luxury precinct of Murray Street would be the absolute centre of a new, more vibrant city.”
Mr Pavlos said: “As Perth’s ‘Park Avenue’ continues to grow it will stand testament to the city’s ability to honour its past while embracing its aspirations for the future.
“It is an exciting time for those wanting to be a part of the precinct and for the city itself.”
